Air France Airbus A320-213 F-HEPD operated their morning flight to Paris CDG whilst a KLM Boeing 737-8 arrived on Runway 33

Monarch Airbus A321-231 G-ZBAJ was another morning service to Hurghada

SAS CRJ-900 OY-KFF operated their flight to Copenhagen, Denmark

Thomson Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner G-TUID taxied slowly down Sierra towards Runway 33 operating the TOM814 flight to Bridgetown, Barbados whilst a Brussels Airlines Avro RJ100 landed on Runway 33...

...It then departed rapidly off Runway 33 whilst having enough of the January blues!

...Whilst Flybe Embraer 175 G-FBJA taxied behind towards Runway 33 departing for Florence, Italy

Eurowings CRJ-900 D-ACNM operated their flight to Hamburg on behalf of Germanwings

HOP! Embraer 145 F-GUBE was an afternoon departure to Lyon on behalf of Air France

Later on in the afternoon Emirates Boeing 777-31HER A6-EBD operated their usual daily EK40 flight to Dubai

Turkmenistan Boeing 757-22K EZ-A012 departed not long after outbound for Ashgabat

And finally former CityJet VLM Airlines Fokker 50 OO-VLP headed towards Runway 33 operating a service to Paris CDG. This aircraft is currently in a plain white livery with "Spirit of VLM" titles near the nose


Wednesday 28th January 2015 - Hail, Haze & Delays! Severe hail showers and high winds cause disruption

United Airlines Boeing 757-224 N12125 operated their daily 9am service to Newark, New York

Later on in the morning the wind picked up rapidly and some very heavy hail showers passed over the airport which caused arrivals to circle and several aircraft to queue on the taxiway, such as Helvetic Fokker 100, Monarch Airbus A321 and Air Explore Boeing 737 (in photo) at the back of the queue and Ryanair Boeing 737 and SAS CRJ-900 at the front of the queue (not in photo)...

...First to depart after the runway reopened was Thomson Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner G-TUID which queued on taxiway Sierra outbound for Montego Bay, Jamaica, using full length of the runway and attempting to clear any excess water for the remaining departures! This aircraft includes "Angel of the Sky" titles

...Next to depart was Monarch Airbus A321-231 G-ZBAJ departing for Larnaca

...And finally Air Explore Boeing 787-8Q8 OM-FEX operating a service to Hannover. By now all operations at the airport were back to normal
